Scone Rugby Day

SATURDAY 10 OCTOBER 2009

The first event the Kiss the Frog Foundation held was a rugby day in Josh’s home town, Scone.

Josh was one of Scone Rugby Club’s best players having played, captained, coached and led the team for the last four seasons, as well a serving as President of the Club. He has also represented his zone and NSW Country on numerous occasions.

Josh had the idea of getting some of his old rugby friends from school, Randwick and NSW Country to come to Scone to put on a coaching clinic for the kids – the kids that will keep rugby growing.

The day was held at Scone Park and kicked off with a coaching clinic for the kids conducted by Luke Burgess (Wallabies), Brett Sheehan, Chris Thompson (NSW), Sydney first graders Dan Raymond, Mike Ruthven, Tim Davidson and Ben Azar as well as ex-Cockatoos Ross Duncan, Pat Barrett, Mark Cotter and Elliott Tourle.

This was followed by the local derby between Scone and Quirindi and then main event of the day saw the Kiss the Frog Invitational XV vs the NSW Country Presidents XV.

The players then offered their jerseys for auction to raise money for Kiss the Frog as everyone enjoyed some dinner and drinks at the club house.

It was a fun filled day for kids and adults alike and a great opportunitiy for Josh to give something back to the town he calls home.
