I can hardly believe that it is already April, where is this year going?? During March we saw a continued improvement in my rehab and we came a step closer to working out when I can return home. After meeting with all the staff that oversee my program we discussed were I was at, what improvements we have seen, where they feel I can get to and what time frame are we talking? We then set up an initial goal of aiming to return to Australia during September, which I can’t tell you how excited I was by hearing this date. The plan will be to intensify the program until then, so that I can go home with no stone unturned and have hopefully having achieved all of our goals. Although it must be remembered that the game doesn’t stop there I will be expected to continue training and staying fit once home.

Over the month of March we still had to customize my program so that we could allow my knee to fully recover from the bone bruise. This meant that all tall kneeling sessions were still out, which are designed to restrengthen my hips and create greater core stability. These sessions were compensated with more standing sessions in both my walking frame and the AR-JO with a lot of the focus on my hip and trunk stability. Throughout the sessions we saw my ability to stop hyper extending my back and stand in correct posture become more naturally dominant. However my right glute (butt cheek) is still a little behind the eight ball in strength and will fatigue out on me at this stage.

There were some very memorable social highlights and we capped the month off with the changing off the guard. Where Jono flew home and good friend Kate Davidson arrived to hang out for a few months. A highlight was definitely great mate Campbell Cannon coming down to visit from New York for a weekend. I hadn’t seen Campbell since the Kiss the Frog ball a year ago so we had a bit to catch up on. However D.Wade and the Miami Heat were in town to play the Hawks so the chatting had to wait and we all went to watch the game. Unfortunately it was a very one sided affair with Le Bron James running riot and scoring 40 points in three quarters but great to watch. On Saturday I took Campbell up to the center so that he could see where my days are spent chasing this dream and allow him take in what is involved. It was great to catch up with Coo over the weekend and I am sure that I will be seeing him again before I head back.
